It is certainly a "new day" in Oakland, as head coach Dennis Allen pointed out in his press conference. The latest development comes in the form of new defensive coordinator Jason Tarver. And with his arrival, the Raiders look to be in for a new defensive scheme.

After weeks of getting turned down for interview requests from NFL teams, the Raiders turned to the college ranks to find their new defensive coordinator.  He is Jason Tarver, former defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach for the Stanford Cardinal.

Time will tell how quickly the Raiders are able to regain national prominence as one of the best teams in the league and are able to make it to the Super Bowl.  But it is equally possibly the Super Bowl could come to them.  This week, all eyes have turned to Indianapolis for Super Bowl XLVI.  Indianapolis was given the opportunity to host by way of a new stadium initiative that started years ago.

The Raiders have made a flurry of hires the past couple days. First came offensive coordinator Greg Knapp and within a little over a day, he had put together most of his staff. But thus far, the only coordinators and position coaches have been on the offensive side of the ball as the Raiders have been met with considerable resistance in their search for a new defensive coordinator.

The Raiders have been moving quickly hiring their coaching staff the past few days. The most recent is bringing in Frank Pollack to coach the offensive line as first reported by Foxsports.com. Pollack replaces Bob Wylie who coached the Raiders' offensive line last season. That means out with Wylie's power blocking scheme and in with Pollack's zone blocking scheme.

The coaching search for the Raiders has been a long mysterious process with mysterious names popping up seemingly out of nowhere. Dennis Allen as head coach was a somewhat unexpected move and his staff is shaping up much the same way. Or at least the hiring of Greg Knapp as offensive coordinator.
