The San Diego Chargers will be without a key weapon against the Raiders Sunday. Starting running back Ryan Mathews has been ruled out. Mathews was questionable coming in and did not practice Friday. He will be replaced by Mike Tolbert.
The game has no playoff relevance for the Chargers. They were knocked out of contention for a playoff spot last week when they lost to the Lions. But this game is a must-win for the Raiders who are still hoping to get in the playoffs either as a division winner or a wildcard.
Tolbert has 432 yards on 112 carries (3.8 ypc) this season compared to Mathews' 222 carries for 1091 yards (4.9 ypc). Both had under 40 yards on the ground in the Raiders' last meeting in week ten.

It took Hue way too long to realize that he has to hold people accountable, coaches and players, alike. Hold Bresnahan accountable for the terrible defense and fire him. Hold Satele, Carlisle and Barnes accountable for penalties and terrible play and cut them. Realize that the defense does not have enough talent and depth and improve on it.
If Oakland decides to stay a 4-3 defense, then hire Del Rio. However, I think they should hire a 3-4 defensive coordinator and sign players that fit that scheme. We have most of the pieces for it, we just need a NT and more/better LB depth. I wish Goethel could stay healthy for a change cuz I'd like to see how he'd do as a ILB. Secondary is seriously lacking and needs better depth, at CB and FS for sure. They really should have paid Nnamdi to keep him a Raider. They might be able to trade for him from the Eagles and I am sure that he'd love the chance to come back, hopefully.
I think the two draft picks we have right now, plus whatever comp picks we get, should all be on NT, OL, ILB, and/or DB.
What could have been if we had a real D-coordinator. I'm soooo tired of saying " we'll be better next year ". I think we need a new special teams coordinator as well, we gave up to many big returns and td's. I like Hue- he needs to clean up some game management issues- but I love his aggressiveness.
Oakland should restructure the contracts of several playets to free up more cap space to be major players in free agency this year since we only got 2 draft picks.
Fire Bresnahan's fat ass already! They need to sign better players for the oline, the secondary, and players to help convert to the 3-4 defense.
